The Project

Objectives

The project aims at the digital support of mathematical modelling under the perspective of the United Nations’ (2015) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are as follows:

We as the consortium support the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.

The above-mentioned aim results in three specific objectives:

  1. Development of a digital tool for the teaching and learning of mathematical modelling
  2. Creation of a substantial open database of ready-to-use materials in the form of tasks related to the SDGs
  3. Research on and dissemination of the digital supported mathematical modelling in the context of the SDGs

Implementation

The three specific objectives result in the following activities:

  1. Development of a web portal for teachers and a mobile app for secondary students
  2. Creation of peer-reviewed mathematical modelling tasks of various task tasks in the context of the SDGs and their provision in multiple languages
  3. a) Development and implementation of educational courses for pre-service and in-service teachers
    b) Design-based research aiming at the continuous evaluation of technical, material-based and educational project results

Results

  1. Provision of a high-quality system for the preparation, conduct, management, monitoring and evaluation of mathematical modelling activities in educational practice
  2. Provision of a rich and high-quality database for mathematical modelling activities that contribute to student’s awareness of European and global issues
  3. Dissemination of the project and its technical, material-based, educational and research-based results among pre-service teachers, in-service teachers and the scientific community
